Iran Reports Multiple Ships Passing Through Hormuz Amid Naval Coordination

(MENAFN) Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy said Saturday that 25 commercial vessels passed through the Strait of Hormuz over the past 24 hours under coordination with Iranian authorities.

According to a statement from the IRGC Navy’s public relations department, the ships—including oil tankers, container vessels, and other commercial carriers—were granted passage after receiving authorization and security coordination from Iranian forces, as reported by state broadcaster Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting.

The announcement comes amid sustained regional tensions following earlier military escalations involving the United States, Israel, and Iran in recent months.

Tehran later carried out retaliatory actions targeting Israel and US-aligned interests in the Gulf, alongside reported disruptions involving maritime movement through the strategic waterway.

Although a ceasefire was introduced in April through Pakistani mediation efforts, subsequent negotiations held in Islamabad failed to produce a durable agreement, while diplomatic efforts to fully stabilize the situation have continued.

The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most critical energy transit routes, with nearly one-fifth of global oil supplies traditionally passing through it before the conflict disrupted shipping patterns and heightened concerns over global energy stability.
