Middle East Tensions Drive Focus on Transport Security
In a speech delivered via video link during the 1st International Transport and Logistics Forum, Putin explained that the confrontation involving the US, Israel, and Iran has altered global priorities.
He noted that "Events in Iran directly impact the transportation of oil and gas through the Strait of Hormuz. More and more countries and companies are considering not only the cost and speed of transportation, but decisive factors are becoming security," highlighting the growing emphasis on safeguarding transit routes.
Putin further indicated that additional elements are gaining prominence, including the resilience of transportation corridors and supply networks, as well as their reduced vulnerability to armed conflicts, crises, and other external threats. These aspects, he suggested, are increasingly influencing decisions in the logistics and transport sectors.
Earlier that day, the inaugural International Transport and Logistics Forum commenced in St. Petersburg. According to the Ministry of Transport, the event has drawn 73 senior representatives from 50 nations and 13 organizations, all of whom have confirmed attendance.
The forum is set to host around 50 sessions, where attendees will engage in discussions focusing on the advancement of the transportation sector across Russia and the broader Eurasian region.
