Iran Launches Three Missiles at Northern Israel

(MENAFN) Iran launched three successive waves of missiles toward northern Israel in the early hours of Thursday, media reported, triggering widespread air raid sirens across the region as interception efforts were scrambled.

Iranian state television claimed the strikes reached the port city of Haifa — a declaration that came within minutes of US President Donald Trump publicly suggesting Tehran's missile capabilities were nearly spent.

Earlier Thursday, Trump told Americans in a White House address that Iran had "very few" missile launchers remaining and that its capacity to deploy missiles and drones had been "dramatically curtailed." He added that he expects the conflict to extend another two to three weeks, while expressing confidence that an end to hostilities was drawing near.

The cross-border exchange is the latest escalation in a conflict that has gripped the region since Feb. 28, when the US and Israel launched a coordinated air offensive against Iran, killing more than 1,340 people — including then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

Tehran has since mounted a sustained retaliatory campaign, directing drone and missile strikes at Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf states hosting US military installations. The strikes have inflicted casualties, damaged critical infrastructure, and sent shockwaves through global markets and international aviation networks.
